TRAI to review telecom quality of service every quarter
4Telcom Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI ) is changing the parameters to Review Telecom Quality of Service by switching to a quarterly audit instead of annually. Till now, every three months the service providers submit data on defined parameters on Quality of Service but audit was done annually by TRAI.
According to a TRAI Official, “Trai want to improve quality of telecom services and make tariff plans easier to understand” This new step will certainly put pressure on service providers to keep upgrading their networks constantly and swiftly redress subscriber complaints.
TRAI is also seeking to simplify the tariff plan literature offered by operators, as subscribers do not get the right kind of information about hidden costs and benefits of different plans. (more…)
Vodafone Karnataka tops TRAI Quality of Service report

In the latest Quality of Service (QoS) Report, for the quarter ending September 2009, released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Vodafone achieved the highest accessibility rate of 99.03pc , one of the low call drop rates of 0.98pc and a 98.28pc rate of calls with good voice quality and a 100pc resolution of billing and charging.
K Sankara Narayanan, CEO Vodafone Essar South Limited said, “In the current dynamic and competitive scenario, the success and survival of an operator hinges on the quality of service (QoS) it provides . This is indeed a proud moment for us all having topped the QoS for the 2nd consecutive quarter on almost all parameters among other GSM service providers in Karnataka state.”
QoS Survey is part of the Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators (TSPI) report that is released by TRAI every quarter.
