India GSM subscribers reached 526 mn

In November 2010, Indian telecom operators added a whopping numbers of 17.45 million new users. According to the reports of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) the total subscriber base is now increased from 508.72 million to 526.18 million by end of November,2010.
Country’s largest GSM player Bharti Airtel,added 3.10 million new users in November,taking its total subscriber base to 149.39 million and market share to 28.39%.
On the other side Vodafone Essar has added highest number of subscribers among all the service providers in the country and its total subscriber base grow to 121.16 million and market share of 23.03%. (more…)
Indian government to verify actual no. of active mobile users

With a whooping official mobile subscriber base of 670 million, India is emerging as one of the fastest growing mobile phone subscriber market in the world. Moreover story doesn’t ends here as the no. of subscribers are ever increasing by addition of near about 13-16 million new users every month.
But the Indian government is not very sure on the actual number of mobile phone users in the country. Indian government is now looking forward to deploy some technology and regulations which can find out the real number of mobile phone subscribers. The decision was arrived at a recent meeting of the Telecom Commission.
From this total 670 million mobile subscribers, there are considerable amount of non-active mobile users and single users with multiple SIM cards. Although no official figures are available for non-active subscribers, some estimates show that actual number of subscribers may not be more than 500 million. (more…)
GSM subscribers data of Top 5 Indian telecos until August

India, One of the largest growing market in the world has added 13.5 million new GSM mobile subscribers In month of August. The total GSM subscribers base stood at over 481 million,Cellular Operators Association of India(COAI) said in its latest figures.
Country’s largest private telecom operator Bharti Airtel added just over 2 million users to take its total subscriber base to 141.25 million and market share at 29.33 percent. Vodafone is in second place with a subscriber base around 113.77 million and market share of 23.62 per cent at the end of August. IDEA Cellular the third largest GSM operator with a subscriber base of little over 15 percent. IDEA Cellular is followed by BSNL with total subscribers of about 70 million. But, Reliance Communication and TTSL are ahead of BSNL if we count CDMA users also. (more…)
India Govt asks Google Skype to give access to telecom data

After BlackBerry now Indian Government asked all companies providing communication services in the country, including Google and Skype to provide access to security agencies in their encrypted data. They want all such companies to set up their computer servers within India and need access to the flow of data, voice and SMS through their networks.
Communication services offered by Skype and Google voip which have considerable presence in the country, converts audio in a digital format that is later transmitted over the Internet with voip security to make a call. so far Security agencies don’t have access to the data travelling through Google, Skype and a few other networks that’s why the Union Home Ministry has discussed the security concerns related to voice and messaging services of such companies. Nokia, which wanted to introduce push-mail service in India, has already agreed to set up a server in India. (more…)
indian telecom industry adds 12.29 mn gsm subscribers June
0India’s continues its Drastic growth in Telecom market by adding ” 12.29 million new subscribers ” in June 2010, reported by COAI ( cellular operators’ association ) on Friday. Now with this addition of 12.29 mn India has a total GSM cellular subscriber base of 456.58 million.
Bharti Airtel, India’s number one GSM operator, added three million new users in June, taking its total subscriber base to 136.6 million. Airtel is still is the telecom leader with a 29.92 per cent market share. on the other hand Vodafone Essar, country’s third-largest mobile phone operator added 2.71 million subscribers during the month, taking its subscriber base to 109 million. Vodafone has market share of 23.89 per cent.

Sixth-ranked Idea Cellular added 2.15 million users in June while Aircel added 1.6 million new customers. State-run telecom firms BSNL and MTNL added 1.09 million and 44,413 new users respectively, taking their subscriber base to 66.88 million (BSNL) and 4.90 million (MTNL).
