Tata Teleservice partners with Future Group to launch New GSM Service T24

Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) Country’s sixth largest mobile operator, has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Indian retail giant Future Group, to offer GSM mobile services under a new brand name T24 . The company will begin the commercial launch of the new brand in South India.

T24 stands for Talk 24, and is a natural choice of brand-name for us in this unique partnership, one that will provide customers with a dual advantage all 24 hours of the day – Shop More, Talk More’ and Talk More, Shop More ”. “This unique marketing alliance between a retailer and a telecom operator in India, and offers us direct access to millions of Future Group customers through its widespread retail presence across India,” said by Mr Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Teleservices

Mr Kishore Biyani, Chief Executive Officer, Future Group, said, “Customers will get shopping benefits for talking, and talk-time benefits each time they shop.”

TTSL’s GSM brand, Tata DoCoMo, currently offers GSM services in 15 telecom circles in the country and has been reporting the highest number of net subscriber addition for the last six months. It was TTSL who initiated a tariff war in the country by introducing the per second billing concept on the other hand Pantaloon Retail, the Future Group’s flagship business, operates in 73 cities and towns and 65 rural locations.

Tata Teleservices, RCom with Isee launches email on smsReliance Communications and Tata Teleservices The GSM and CDMA service providers of India have separately announced SMS-based email services for their subscribers. Through this platform users will be able to check all their mails on any type of handset. This service enables subscribers to receive check, download and retrieve email messages using the SMS. The email-to-SMS technology is being provided to both operators by Canada’s iseemedia, provider of low cost wireless email services to operators in the country. iseemail supports all types of email messaging systems in India and will receives a percentage of revenue for every user transaction.

The technology is expected bridge the gap between smartphones and other handsets where accessing internet was not possible. Moreover, the platform will also propel operators to provide text-based information services The launch will also become a new source of garnering revenues for the operators since this will be in addition to the data plans that they offer.

Tata Indicom and Tata Docomo subscribers will have to pay Rs 15 per month and 50 paise for every SMS sent to the respective short codes To subscribe send “optin <email id> <password>” to 582829 (Tata Indicom) or 52206 (Tata DOCOMO).

On the other hand Reliance Communications is offering the service at little higher cost i.e. Rs 30 per month and a usage tariff of 50 paise per SMS sent.
