Airtel 3G services in India going to launch before end of 2010Bharti Airtel, India’s leading mobile service provider has revealed its plan to launch 3G services before the end of 2010. Airtel holds maximum share of GSM users in the country, so launch of 3G services by Airtel will open a new chapter in the country’s broadband data revolution. Airtel has first launched its 3G services in Seychelles, followed by Sri Lanka, Jersey and Guernsey.

Bharti Airtel has 3G spectrum licenses for 13 of the 22 telecoms circles in India. These 13 telecom circles also constitute 68 % of Airtel’s revenue market share in which key centers like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad comprises 21 per cent of all data traffic in the country. For rest of the circles where Airtel does not hold a license, It will probably share 3G spectrum with other operators, which will enable the company to offer countrywide 3G roaming services to users. Airtel 3G pan-India rollout will be in partnership with rivalsBharti Airtel India’s largest telecom operator is in talks with his prominent rivals including Vodafone and Idea Cellular to form a strategic partnership for providing a platform for 3G services on a pan-India level as none of the private operator managed to bag 3G spectrum for all 22 of India’s telecom circles in the May 2010 auction .

Bharti, Vodafone and Idea are all joint stakeholders in Indus Towers ( A tower company ), which would enable them to share basic infrastructure for their respective 3G rollouts, and should the trio join forces they would have 3G spectrum covering all of India’s telecoms circles bar Orissa.

Airtel, RCom ready to start 3G services in India from septemberBharti Airtel and Reliance Communications, Top telecom operators of Indian Telecom industry stated they were ready with their 3G infrastructure and just waiting for the green Signal of spectrum from government. As par Previous announcements the government is likely to release spectrum on September 1 this year after it gets vacated by the defence forces.

“Our network is already ready for providing 3G services. Our content and application are also getting ready for the same and the IT too has geared up. The only thing that needs to be added is the radio network, I am hopeful that before the end of this calendar year, we should see some light on 3G and real user experience happening,” Airtel CEO for India and South Asia, Sanjay Kapoor said (more…)

Airtel officially declares to launch apple Iphone4 in India by OctAirtel, India’s largest telecom service provider has finally revealed its plans to launch iPhone 4, Apple’s Latest Record breaking smartphone. Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, Bharti Airtel, CEO At a industry conference of CII has announced about the company’s plans to launch iPhone 4 in the country by October this year. He also mentioned that the company is closely working with Apple on the same. Before Airtel announcement Another major Operator Vodafone Essar has already declared its plans of rolling out iPhone 4 in India.

Bharti Airtel already sells iPhone 3GS in India at a Price of Rs 35,500 for the 16GB model and Rs 41,500 for the 32GB model. With the launch of third generation mobile services in the country by the end of this year, the sale of such high end devices are likely to get a boost. (more…)
