Opera Software releases Mobile Emulator for developers
0Opera Software has released the latest version of its Opera Mobile Emulator, an essential tool for anyone creating websites and web content. Mobile testing is the new black in modern day web development. However, testing on phones and tablets is rarely straightforward: you have to buy several devices or install complex software development kits.
With Opera’s new mobile emulator, this hassle is now history. We have made it easier than ever to install and run the Opera Mobile Emulator on your PC or Mac and tweak all kinds of environment settings, going from screen sizes and densities to input modes and much more.

Today’s release is a developer companion to our earlier Opera Mobile 11 release for Symbian and Android phones and tablets. As the Opera Mobile browser is already running on all these platforms, we went the extra mile and ported the product to also run on Windows, Mac and Linux.
“The Opera Mobile Emulator is a great tool for anyone who is involved with mobile development,” said Andreas Bovens, Group Leader for Developer Relations & Tools at Opera Software. “We wanted to make mobile testing super easy (yes, even our PR guys manage to use it!). In the emulator, you’ll find a ton of customization options for a wide range of mobile platforms. And, of course, you can do close-up code inspection and live editing via Opera Dragonfly’s remote debugging functionality.”

2
Opera Software today announced that its popular mobile browser, Opera Mini has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini will be available as a free download within 24 hours, depending on market. Opera got his achievement after attaining milestone of 100 million users worldwide
Opera Mini enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.
“We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”
The Opera Mini App is available for free of cost from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore
