2
Opera Software today announced that its popular mobile browser, Opera Mini has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini will be available as a free download within 24 hours, depending on market. Opera got his achievement after attaining milestone of 100 million users worldwide
Opera Mini enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.
“We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”
The Opera Mini App is available for free of cost from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore

Opera Software, maker of the world’s most popular mobile Web browser, plans to reveal Opera Mini for iPhone. The Norwegian company said it will demonstrate the new browser at the 2010 Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. Opera Mini is renowned for its compression technology, which results in significantly faster Web-page loading and reduces data surcharges. With favorite desktop features in its arsenal, such as tabs, Speed Dial and the password manager, Opera Mini is designed with usability in mind.
Jon von Tetzchner, cofounder of Opera Software, said he is “thrilled” to offer the preview and added that the software provides a “fast, feature-rich” experience for iPhone users. Opera on the iPhone brings the company “one step closer” to its mission of “bringing the web to the world,” he said.
Opera Software says it has developed a version of its Opera Mini browser for Apple, Inc.’s iPhone. Opera plans to demonstrate the browser at the Mobile World Conference and indicated it is much better than Apple’s Safari. With Apple under FTC pressure, Opera expects its Opera Mini 5 will be approved for Apple’s App Store but Question is whether Apple will approve Opera as an iPhone application on its App Store. Apple currently only accepts browsers that run on the WebKit engine – the same engine that powers Apple’s Safari browser
