India ready for 4G or LTE by 2012, say experts at LTE India 2011 international conferenceIndia is all set to move on from 3G to 4G, technically known as Long Term Evolution in mobile broadband, leading industry and technology experts said at LTE India 2011 international conference organized by Bharat Exhibitions today.

“With mass adoption, lowest cost per bit, highest capacity, best user experience and a true global standard, the world is stepping into 4G expecting 380 million LTE subscribers and 80 plus LTE networks by 2015”  said Mr. Sujit Bakre, Nokia Siemens Networks head of 4G business development.

“India could lead LTE-TD broadband technology developments” Mr. Mallikarjuna Rao, chief technology officer of Aircel said at the conference. The reason: “lot of competence in this area is returning to India from outside”.   DOT, Ministry of Communications & IT, advisor (technology) Shri J. Gopal was guest of honour at the international conference, second one in the last two years on this latest development in mobile phone broadband technology. (more…)

Thunderbolt HTC 4G smartphone soon with Verizon WirelessThunderbolt HTC , Android 2.2 powered LTE smartphone  could be released very soon with Verizon Wireless. It was supposed to be available on 14th Feb 2011 but So far the Thunderbolt HTC release date keeps being pushed back.

According to experts Verizon Wireless has been delaying the release of HTC Thunderbolt because the company wants to launch a perfect device, so they are waiting for Skype to be ready on the phone. There is also a possibility that Verizon Wireless may be changing the HTC Thunderbolt release date due to the launch of iPhone earlier in the month. The company may have concerns of customers returning that device to purchase the HTC Thunderbolt.

Nokia Siemens to bring 42Mbps HSPA+ network for French Operator SFR

Nokia Siemens to bring 42Mbps HSPA network for French Operator SFRNokia Siemens has signed a contract with French operator SFR to provide the 4G technology supporting a speed of 42Mbps. According to International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) statement, High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) can now officially called as 4G.

This decision was taken, after ITU said that as this advance 3G technology along with the LTE and WiMAX can be used for describing this next generation network as 4G. As this rollout could not take place immediately, as there are many obstacles in the way to achieve such a high speed.

On the other hand, T-Mobile, which is a pioneer in providing such a high-speed network, is also planning to rollout 42Mbps or HSPA+ network in all over the 100 markets where it has its hold. But, it is expected that T-Mobile will launch this HSPA network only in the early 2011. T-Mobile is also planning to launch 650Mbps version of HSPA+ network in future with Nokia-Siemens network. Verizon Twitted About Android, LTE Devices in CES 2011Verizon Wireless, which has launched its 4G services on December 5 in America. After launching 4G services in America we were expecting that it would also launch some LTE or 4G devices. However, until date we are just guessing when Verizon will be going to launch the handsets that are capable of handling 4G signals.

Recently Verizon on Twitter twitted that Jan. 6 at #CES: #Android and #LTE – could it be like peanut butter and chocolate? YUM,

Now, it is officially confirm by Verizon that they will launch 4G and Android devices in CES 2011. There are also many other companies that are lined up to launch and announce different services, features in CES 2011. Moving ahead with HTC, HTC has also confirmed that they are going to bring LTE devices next year in CES 2011 and most probably the handset will be HTC Merge. (more…)

TDC partners with Ericsson for 4G / LTE network solutions

TDC partners with Ericsson for 4G / LTE network solutionsDenmark’s leading operator TDC is about to upgrade their network to 4G and has chosen Ericsson to supply and manage the nationwide network. Under the deal, Ericsson will roll out a complete 4G/LTE solution – including radio access and core network equipment as well as managed services.

This is Ericsson’s first full-scope managed service contract for an LTE/Evolved Packet Core (EPC) network. The roll out of the network will start immediately. TDC wants to introduce 4G in six cities, including Copenhagen, in January 2011.

Jess Ibsen, CTO of TDC says: “Choosing Ericsson is a continuation and expansion of TDC’s strategic cooperation with Ericsson. With that, TDC is still committed to deliver quality experiences for all users in TDC’s mobile network. (more…)
