Aircel to launch 3G services in India in by 2011Aircel, India’s 5th largest GSM service provider has announced they will launch its 3G services in India in the January-March quarter of 2011 by investing $500 million. The company has won spectrum for 13 new circles across the country.

“The company will launch 3G services in the first quarter (January-March quarter) of next year,” Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh told reporters here.The company will plan to invest $1 Billion for the entire 2G and 3G network in 2011.They also told to media that they will finalise the 3G equipment manufacturer by next week.  (more…)

Aircel Mobile Service in Punjab plans to start 3G by Dec 2010AIRCEL, The 5th largest GSM operator of India has launched its Mobile Services in Punjab telecom circle. Aircel had invested Rs. 350 crores in punjab for raising 2,000 BTS sites and for setting up call-centers, The company plans to invest another Rs. 650 crores in the state to increase BTS upto 3,600 by December 2010. With this launch Aircel has now its GSM mobile services in 21 telecom circles and now punjab Telecom circle has eight GSM players including Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, BSNL, Reliance, Tata Docomo and Videocon. Aircel launches GSM services in northern India

Aircel, A joint venture between Maxis Communications of Malaysia and Apollo Hospital Enterprise of India will soon start its attractive GSM services for residents of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan states. As part of growing its pan-Indian presence, Aircel is expected to roll out services in these three circles* in April and has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to supply the GSM network and manage it for four years as part of a deal worth in excess of 300 million USD

Nokia Siemens Networks will supply the radio, core and microwave network equipment and roll it out quickly and cost efficiently. Its offerings will not only help Aircel reduce its network’s carbon footprint, but also prepare it to launch 3G services in the future. Nokia Siemens Networks has earlier supplied a GSM network and related services to Aircel for the cities of Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, and is the number one provider of managed services in India.
