3G video call starts again, telcos gets time till July 31 to provide interceptionIndian Telecom operators with 3G services got a major relief from the government as The Department of Telecom (DOT) said that it will allow third generation (3G) video calls on mobile networks and asked the companies to demonstrate the services by July 31

Before this, telecom operators offering 3G mobile services were asked to stop the 3G video call service as security agencies were not able to intercept the video calls on real time basis.

“After examination of various options, it has now been decided to permit carriage of calls on mobile networks subject to an undertaking being provided by the concerned service providers that they shall demonstrate the required capability by July 31, 2011,” (more…)

UID (AADHAAR) to be used For Mobile User Verification in India

The Unique Identification Number (UID) project, which is employed to use the 700 million of mobile subscriber database and distribution network, it will in turn going to become the basic document for issuing a mobile connection in future.

Due to lack of proper documents, the SIM cards are made available for any individual easily and it is not checked properly, to whom the SIM cards are being allotted, especially when we consider a case in prepaid segment.

DoT secretary R Chandrasekhar said, “Serious consideration is being given to make UID the fundamental basis of subscriber verification. This will mean that the present arrangement will continue for a period of time but once UID is up and running the transition could occur very quickly and nationwide.” (more…)

Submit documents for verification before 31 oct; Vodafone KarnatakaAn appeal to all Vodafone customers, who have not yet submitted their address and ID proof for verification, they are required to do the needful latest by October 31, 2010 failing which their connections will be cancelled as directed by the DoT ( Department of Telecommunications ).

Existing Vodafone subscribers, who have been contacted via SMS or call for re-submission of their documents, are expected to visit any Vodafone Store or Mini Store across Karnataka and furnish their photograph and/or self-attested copy of identity/address proof document. (more…)
