IDEA Cellular , is playing host to the communications needs of millions of devotees who are converging to the city for a holy dip in River Ganga, during this Maha kumbh. IDEA has made special Kumbh preparations by launching customized products for travelers to Kumbh; made recharge coupons available at retail counters; made necessary arrangements to provide congestion free network to local as well as in-roamers; besides installing PCO booths to provide telephony services to the visitors.

IDEA has ensured availability of recharge stocks at 500 retail outlets, Ashrams and Akharas, operating in the periphery of Haridwar and nearby areas. IDEA branded canopies are placed at high touch points across the city, including some of the prominent Ghats. To provide telephony services to those who are not connected with a mobile phone, IDEA has installed over 150 PCOs in Haridwar, across major locations such as Har-Ki-Pauri, Ashrams and Tent Areas.

Forgiving cold weather and almost zero night visibility during the chilly winter, IDEA network team has installed 15 additional mobile towers in Haridwar, in order to ensure good coverage and congestion free network amidst large gathering. Additionally, two CoWs (Coverage on Wheels) are stationed in the city, to provide additional support for network coverage, during the time of the holy baths.

IDEA has not only built on its products and quality of services, but has also tied-up with State and District Administration for facilitation and maintenance of safety measures for the pilgrims. To help the administration with smooth traffic operations, IDEA branded 100 Traffic Barricades are installed within the city and the surrounding areas. IDEA has also installed Electric display units (LED) at Har-Ki-Pauri for displaying the helpline numbers for the devotees.

IDEA information kiosks are installed at Railway Station and teams of IDEA promoters are deployed at various Dhabhas to guide the pilgrims and help them with necessary information. Mobile charging units are installed in Hotels, Aashrams, Dhabhas and public places, to facilitate communication needs of the pilgrims.
The Maha Kumbh that started on 14th January, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti will go on till 28th April 2010. Haridwar Kumbh ‘10 is one of the largest pilgrims of this civilization with an estimate gathering of more than 4 crore people.
