Mobile No portability in Chennai Banglore by May 2010
The Union Minister for Communications and IT, Mr A. Raja, announced on the occasion of introducing third generation (3G) services of BSNL in Banglore that mobile number portability, which allows switching of service providers without changing the number, would be introduced by the first week of May in Chennai and Bangalore .People in India are anxiously waiting for the mobile number portability (MNP).
It is already indicated by the government that this service will be available at very nominal fee of some rupees only.
Right now because of certain reason telecom authority is not able to get security clearance for imported handsets but hopefully the complication will be resolved and Number portability in select cities (Chennai and Bangalore ) will be introduced first time by May Month.
“The telecom sector is also seeing healthy competition with the entry of a number of service providers. The tariffs are also decreasing. While prices are rising in all commodities, the telecom sector is an exception,” said the Minister. when Questioned about the 3G spectrum allocation, he said the issue would be sorted out this week.
