Grameenphone launches co-branded version of Opera Mini for 32 million users

Grameenphone, the leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh along with Opera Software, the makers of the Opera mobile web browsers has announced the launch of Special Opera Mini customized for Grameenphone users. Grameenphone users will also get free data services for one week, after downloading the mobile browser.
The Opera Mini web browser for mobile phones, works on more than 3000 different handsets ranging from basic feature phones to high-end smartphones. It is the most popular browser in the world, with more than 90 million users every month. The Opera Mini browser uses Opera’s servers to compress webpages up to 90 per cent of their original size before sending them to the phone. Because the data transferred is smaller, pages arrive faster. On a pay-as-you-go plan, the Opera Mini browser dramatically cuts the price you pay, because the data you use is greatly reduced.
Grameenphone, has always been a pioneer in introducing new products and services in the local market. Opera Mini will come preinstalled on some INQ phones

Opera Software and INQ have entered into an agreement where the Opera Mini mobile browser will be preinstalled on social networking INQ phones based on the Android platform, as well as on INQ feature phones based on BREW. The handsets with the Opera Mini browser will first be rolled out in March 2011 in the United Kingdom, followed by Australia and other markets.
The Opera Mini browser is the world’s most popular mobile browser with more than 90 million active users worldwide. Opera Mini’s unique features such as Speed Dial, tabbed browsing, password manager and Opera Link, which synchronizes users’ bookmarks across multiple devices, makes it the preferred browser over the device’s native browser.

MTS India partners with Opera Software

Opera Software and MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of SSTL, have signed an agreement that would enable MTS customers to download Opera Mini directly on a range of mobile phone models from leading handset manufacturers such as Samsung, ZTE, Haier, Huawei, Micromax and Hisense by browsing through MY MTS Zone on their handsets. The access path being MY MTS > Mobile Shop > Opera Mini Browser

Mobile Web boom continues in India; Opera mini August report
0The mobile Web gained increasing momentum in August, with page views increasing by more than 14 percent and data transfers increasing by almost 10 percent from July. More than four million new Opera Mini users contributed to the jump, which is the largest gain in six months.
In addition to maintaining its position as the third largest country with Opera Mini users, India’s unique-user growth is the highest amongst the top 20 countries in the Opera State of the Mobile Web report. Leading with 338.7 % increase in unique-users, India is followed by Malaysia (306%) Vietnam (289.9%) and Brazil (289%).

ZTE to offer preloaded Opera Mini on various mobile handsets

Opera Software and ZTE Corporation, provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced they will be offer preloaded Opera Mini browser in selected handsets which will be distributed globally. ZTE stepped in this decision due to overwhelming demand of mobile internet browsing and Opera mini is De-facto standerd for compressed and fastest mobile web on Mobiles.
“Customers seek access to the Internet and all their favorite websites on their mobiles,” said Ding Ning, Vice General Manager of GSM and UMTS Handset Products, from ZTE. “We want to make this experience interesting for our users by offering them Opera Mini on their handsets.
