Amazon Launches Kindle a free App for BlackBerry

Amazon has launched a Kindle application for BlackBerry that lets customers purchase and read e-books. Named as “Kindle for BlackBerry” application will enable smartphone users to enjoy more than 420,000 books. It can be downloaded for free from Amazon.com, though only newer BlackBerry models are supported like Curve 8520 and 8900, Tour 9630, Bold 9000 and 9700, and Storm 9500, 9530, and 9550.
“Since we launched Kindle for iPhone, users have been asking us to make something similar for BlackBerry,” “This is due to the pressure being exerted publishers and the presentation of the iPad, where Apple would be offering more advantageous arrangements for the industry” said Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon.
