Acer to launch Android 3G smartphones in Indian market
Acer, The Taiwan-headquartered Multinational computer technology and electronics company has said it is eyeing 40 per cent growth in India and plans to launch 4 – 6 new 3G enabled smartphones in the market by the end of this year.
“There is a huge growth in the Indian market in terms of consumption of netbooks, notebooks and smartphones.
“We will also introduce 4-6 new models in 3G-enabled Android phones in the next quarter,”. The phones will be priced at Rs 10,000 for a basic model to Rs 24,999 for a high-end set, Rajendran said, adding that the category will witness an “enormous” spurt in sales once 3G services are rolled out. The company’s India operations are likely to add Rs 3,855 crore to its overall global sales in the current calendar year.
The company’s global revenues stood at $17.9 billion in the 2009-10 calendar year. “Our revenue is likely to grow by 40 per cent over the last calender year,” Rajendran said
